Designed as a further development of the G 120A, the G 120TP was transformed into an almost new type of aircraft during the development process. Thanks to the new powerplant, the G 120TP offers new capabilities for basic and advanced pilot training, where it can be used as an introduction to a trainer aircraft.

The cell is made of fiberglass reinforced plastic, stressed at +6/-4g. The wings are made of carbon fiber composites with wings.

The cockpit provides space for students and teachers in military gear and helmets. The HOTAS control system is similar to that found in other types of aircraft that students may fly later in their careers. Therefore, basic and advanced flight training will be possible for future pilots of transport planes, helicopters or jets. The cockpit is equipped with movable seats or, optionally, new lightweight Martin-Baker Mk.17 ejection seats. The dashboard can be equipped with a Gesys Aerosystems IDU-680 4-screen EFIS.

An autopilot and air conditioning system are available, as well as an oxygen system and a second thrust lever.

Argtina is the second operator of the G 120TP. Delivery of the first batch of four aircraft began in June 2013, and a total of 10 aircraft (+5) have been delivered.
